Anti-Piracy Campaign

What is book piracy?

Unlike other things you purchase, the words in the books you buy don't belong to you. Instead, you become a licensed user — you purchase the right to read, enjoy and learn, but you can't put copy, scan or distribute the story or information. Book piracy is the illegal distribution and/or reproduction of books for business or personal use. Whether book piracy is deliberate or not, it is still illegal and punishable by law.

Piracy comes in many forms. The most common piracy methods include:

  • Duplication for others
  • Illegal distribution
  • Creation of derivative works
  • Distributing the information for educational purposes without permission
  • Distribution of inauthentic books

Report it

The best way to prevent book piracy is to report it. To ensure fast communication regarding suspected book piracy simply report it to the author or publisher

Individuals

If you are an individual who has been a victim of book piracy, and were sold what you suspect are illegal copies.

Corporates

If you need to report an organization you believe to be involved in book piracy.

If you are aware of someone pirating Pale Horse Publishing books, please send the information via Email to:

piracy@palehorsepublishing.com

Educate Others

Those who believe they're saving money and not hurting anyone by pirating books couldn't be more mistaken. It is the same as someone stealing dollars off your paycheck.

Authors and publishers work hard to get entertaining and informative books to you. When the books are pirated the author and publisher don't get paid. This will inhibit your ability to buy the books you want in the future.

Legal and financial penalties, higher administrative costs, and lowered productivity make piracy very expensive. Find out how to educate employees and users about correct software licensing practices.

The information you provide will be used for the purpose of investigation and seeking remedies on behalf of the authors and publishers. Your personal information will not be used for any other purpose without your permission.
