A Hiker's Guide to Disaster
Davida (Pete) Gates did little serious hiking before age fifty, but had
funny disasters from the start! From day trails, to backpacking, to highway
walking, she has accomplished and endured fifteen hundred miles of problems,
giving up only after old age, artificial knees, and blindness interfered.
As office worker, teacher, college professor, and professional sociologist,
she has lived through other disasters too. She has traveled all the lower 48
and Alaska (4 times), Canada and Mexico (several times), China, Pakistan,
New Zealand, and Australia; rock hounded for 60 years; and took rafts
through the Grand Canyon. These indicate a fully disastrous life. |
